Victor Joseph DeChant of Franklin, WI, was reunited with Christ on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the age of 78. He was born on December 17, 1943, in Jefferson, WI, to Joseph and Evelyn (Hams) DeChant. He married Dora (Young) Thiessen on July 1, 1967.
Victor is survived by his sons, Joe (Kathy) DeChant of Baraboo and Todd (Teresa) DeChant of Markesan; and daughter, Tina (Tim) Van Handel of Muskego. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Nick DeChant, Kayla and Derek DeChant, and Brennyn and Reese Van Handel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Joseph DeChant; mother, Evelyn (Hams) Wroblewski; step-father, Edmund Wroblewski; his brothers, Arthur and Raymond DeChant; his sister, Josephine (DeChant) Tomlinson; and niece, Wendy Tomlinson.
Victor was an enthusiastic, die-hard Packer and Badger fan. He also enjoyed watching war documentaries, old westerns, and Christian films, while eating any type of dessert within reach. He faithfully attended mass daily at Sacred Heart on Monastery Lake where he lived.
A memorial gathering is planned for Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM at St. Martin of Tours, 7963 South 116th St, Franklin, WI 53132.
