Udo Heusel

August 23, 1959 — April 11, 2022

Udo Heusel, 62, of Franksville WI, journeyed to his heavenly home on April 11th, 2022, in West Allis, WI. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 at 3:00PM with the benevolent Matt Stickel officiating at New Apostolic Church, 11722 W Florist Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53225. Udo Heusel was born in Tubingen, Germany to Manfred and Annalise Heusel in August, 1959. He went to school and grew up in Albstadt, Germany. He served in the German Air Force before traveling and moving to the United States in 1991. He married Teresa Gibson in September, 2002, in Franksville, WI. He worked as a Tool and Die Maker for 39 years at Guhring, Inc. The booming and boisterous man was known for his tremendous mustache and his even more enormous heart. He had a ceaseless passion for cooking, baking, and BBQ, taking immense pride in both eating and smoking giant hunks of meat. He labored from 4am or earlier to make BBQ in his smoker for his friends and family, feeding multitudes of people who came to gather and spend time with Udo and his wife, Teresa. When he wasn’t BBQ’ing, he was baking various breads and was known to wake up early in the morning to make pretzels for his church family on Sundays, and for co-workers and friends for special events. His amazing pretzels will ‘knot’ be forgotten. Udo was a man of great faith, who loved the lord, his church, and its congregation. Udo loved the great outdoors; building kayaks, camping, hiking, archery, and most of all, raising his many animals: Piedmontese & Longhorn Cattle, the biggest turkeys you’ve ever seen, chickens, pigs, horses, guinea hens, Maine Coon cats, rottweilers (and any stray ditch dog), but his most precious were his peacocks. He showed his Piedmontese cattle with good friend, Tom Shear, and won several awards and ribbons for his beautiful bull, Taurus. He kept his friend Walter’s bees on his property, loving the sweet honey and flower pollination for both the wildflowers and vegetable gardens that he and his wife kept. He loved astronomy and had built several telescopes, including the construction of an observatory with his long-time friend, Curt Hagen. Udo's big-hearted personality was contagious to everyone he met. He could bring a smile to your face and laugh along, both at you and with you. He had a great sense of humor and he had many stories to tell of his adventurous life that will live on in our hearts and memories. Udo is preceded in death by his faithful, and loving parents: Manfred and Annalise Heusel. Udo is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Heusel, his Step-Daughter Natalie Dare and her Husband Matthew Dare: his Brother, Phillip Heusel and his Sister-in-Law Beate Heusel, and their two beautiful children, Julia & Natalie Heusel; his Sisters and Brothers-in-Laws Mary and Jerry Groff, Tim and Norma Gibson: his Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law Faye and Clyde Gibson, his best friend Curt Hagen and his Wife, Michelle Hagen, and their three innovative and smart children Grace, Olivia, and Will Hagen. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to: Dr. Reddy & Dr. Drescher, West Allis Memorial nursing staff, the New Apostolic Church, Irma Rietl, Adrian and Kristin Gontea, Roger Armstrong, neighbors Deb and Don Walter who got pulled into many shenanigans over the years, as well as countless friends, co-workers, and extended family.
