Sylvia Hartsman

Sylvia "Billie" Hartsman, 84, of Milwaukee, WI, passed away on July 8, 2023. She was born on September 5, 1938, in Milwaukee, WI. Billie was a tough cookie who endured several hardships in her life while fighting to remain independent, despite her many health concerns. Although she often complained about how things went, she held onto hope that her life would improve. Billie will be remembered and loved for her kindness and generosity.

Billie is survived by her sons, Steve and Jeff Hartsman; as well as her grandchildren: Josh Hartsman, Rebecca Barron, Rachel, Renee, Joseph, and Jacob Hartsman; and her great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Ruby. She is also survived by her sister, Helen (Harry) Herman, other relatives, and several good friends. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Mollie Sinagub; her former spouse, Gerald Hartsman; and her long-time companion, Ross Human.

During her career, Billie worked as a secretary at Falk Corporation and EMC Insurance. Outside of work, she enjoyed playing Scrabble and tennis, attending baseball games, and indulging in a good fish fry with potato pancakes. Billie loved cats, cookies, and her time spent with friends and family.

A gathering to celebrate Billie's life will be held at Crawdaddy's, located at 9427 W. Greenfield Ave., West Allis, WI, on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 2-5 p.m. Food and beverages will be provided, and attendees are encouraged to bring a story to share about Billie.

Billie Hartsman will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. May her memory bring comfort and peace to those who mourn her loss.
