Ruth raised 6 children and had a career as a nursing assistant. Retirement found her and Wes on a hobby farm in Mindoro WI., where they enjoyed the country life growing blueberries, gardening, feeding and watching the birds. She belonged to the Homemakers Club where she won a blue ribbon for her needlework in a statewide competition. After 20 years, declining health brought them back to Menomonee Falls to be closer to family. Even though Macular Degeneration took most of her vision Ruth still enjoyed taking care of her feathered friends. It also did not stop her needlework. When crocheting afghans became too difficult, she turned to making hot pads. At last count she had given away over 375 pairs. Packer colors were a favorite, but she would use Viking colors if you were a good friend. She loved singing and remembered the words to many songs. She taught herself the harmonica and would play and sing with her friends at Elaine’s Hope regularly. She also loved to walk and had spent a day walking around the zoo just days before suffering the stroke that led to her death.
Special thanks to her caregivers at Elaine’s Hope for the love and care provided, and to her special friend Jim, who shared her love for music and conversation.
She will be long remembered and deeply missed.
Memorial arrangements will be made at a future date.
