Roy W. Arndt passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024, at the age of 102.

Born November 17, 1921, Roy grew up in humble surroundings, where he learned the values of hard work and perseverance. From a young age he recognized and embraced the significance of education. 

Roy served his country with honor during World War II as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 15th Air Force, 443rd Heavy Bombardment Group, with great courage he flew 11 missions in the Mediterranean. His experiences as a flying officer and 1st pilot of a B-17 Flying Fortress and serving alongside the courageous members of his crew shaped his character.

After the war, Roy married Kathryn Piehl and made their home in Milwaukee. Roy pursued a distinguished career as an attorney, initially with the North Shore Line and later in private practice. Throughout his professional journey, he remained committed to upholding justice and serving his clients with unwavering integrity and compassion. This dedication extended beyond his legal practice and was evident in his service on the Church Society Committee at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Roy's commitment to social justice shone brightly as he worked with the church to organize local clergy's participation in the historic march over the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, during the Civil Rights Movement.

Later in life, Roy found a vibrant community at East Castle Place, where he formed lasting friendships and shared many joyous moments. Known for his infectious good humor and positive outlook, he brightened the lives of those around him until the very end.

Roy touched the lives of countless individuals. He is survived by his daughter, son-in-law, two sisters, three grandchildren, five great-granddaughters, and nieces and nephews. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 19th, 2024, at Eastcastle Place located at 2505 E. Bradford Ave. in Milwaukee at 3PM. A reception will follow the service, with Military Honors performed at 4PM.
