Rocio Grijalva

May 30, 1975 — November 3, 2022

Milwaukee

My mother, Rocio Grijalva, was born on May 30, 1975, in El Paso, Texas, to Irma Gutierrez. She passed away on November 03, 2022, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was a graduate of Riverside High School in El Paso, Texas. She always took pride and often represented saying, "Riverside fool."

She was strong and resilient and became a young mother at 16, giving birth to me, Julian, on January 26, 1992, and later had six more children. She moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin, which she then called home.

Rosie was the life of the party; she knew how to lighten up a room when she walked in. She loved to dance to 90s Hip-Hop and R&B and knew the words to every song. She was a natural prankster that always found humor in every situation. Rosie also enjoyed watching crime and investigative movies and shows, such as 'Unsolved Mysteries' and 'America's Most Wanted.' She was small in stature but fearless. She never let anyone bring her down. Rosie loved cooking, made delicious meals, and always enjoyed a cold "brewski."

We did not get enough time as we should have together, and although the distance was always a factor, our bond is what kept our love strong. The times we were able to be together will always hold a special place in my heart. Seeing my mom struggle through life has taught me the true meaning of unconditional love. She taught me to be a fighter even when the odds were against me. Through our life's hardships, I can proudly say she was one of the bravest women in my life. Growing up, I often wished our lives were different, but I have become the man I am today because of the life lessons we learned. I hold many of my mother's qualities, but I am most proud of always being able to look at the bright side of any situation. Which is why I am at peace knowing she is now resting.

She is survived by her mother, Irma Gutierrez; son, Julian A. (Grecia) Hernandez; granddaughter, Kamila S. Hernandez; and children Alejandra Bernal, Joshua Bernal, Eric A. Bernal, Amber, Jake Rudd, and Jay Rudd.

My amazing mom, I will always love you.
