Robert Joseph Thon

Robert Joseph Thon, age 77, of West Allis, Wisconsin, passed away on November 28, 2024.

Robert (Bob) was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Thon, Sr., and Jean (nee Rakowksi) Thon. He is survived by his brothers, Rev. Andrew Thon, S.J., and James Thon (Diane); nephew, Michael Thon (Kariann); grand-nephew, Evan; grand-nieces: Jocelyn, Celia, and Alise; and other dear relatives and friends.

Robert was a graduate of Marquette University High School and Marquette University. Shortly after graduation he proudly served in the US Army from October 15, 1970, through April 4, 1972, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged. Upon discharge he joined his parents in the family business, Thon's Sporting Goods.

Bob enjoyed all things sports, being an ardent fan of the Brewers and the Packers. He also enjoyed coaching 6th thru 8th grade basketball at his home parish, St. Sebastian's.

Bob was also a friend to animals, specifically beagles, Cindee, Abby, and Barney.

Bob spent the last years of his life courageously fighting cancer.

A memorial celebration will be held at a future date at the VA cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.
