Robert (Bob) Anthony Wieczorek, father, friend, husband, brother, grandfather, naval officer, engineer, ski patroller, Red Cross volunteer, world traveler, died after a two month battle with brain cancer. He was 82 when he died on March 29, 2020. Services will be held at a later date.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Anne, his children Melissa (Kevin) Bass Minnetonka, MN; Eric (Amy) Eau Claire, WI; twins Kevin, Boulder, CO, and Jennifer (Mike) Moreland Morrison, CO; plus three granddaughters, Samantha and Kali Wieczorek and Mickayla Moreland.
Bob attended Marquette University on a full ROTC scholarship. He was a member of Sigma Phi Delta Professional Engineering Fraternity. He graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineer degree and an officer commission as an Engineer in the U.S. Navy. Bob served 3 years (1959-62) on board the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Antietam. After his military service, he graduated with a Business Administration degree from Marquette University in 1975.
He was employed at Square D. Company (1959-62), Allen Bradley (Rockwell 1981-86) and Badger Meter, Inc. (1986-93).
Bob obtained his Real Estate license and was employed at Prudential Preferred Properties (1994-97).
He was a ski patroller at Alpine Valley Ski Resort for 25 years and was an OEC instructor. Bob was a member of the Vagabond Ski Club. On his last western ski trip, he skied for free because he was 80.
At age 60, he won gold and bronze medals at the Wisconsin Senior Olympics in cycling.
Bob also volunteered for American Red Cross (First Aid Services Team 1999-2012).
He also traveled to all 50 states, 42 countries, 6 continents and he completed 78 of 100 items on his bucket list before he died.
