Ralph Peter
Larsen
Nov 28, 1940 — Apr 14, 2026
Ralph Peter Larsen died on April 14, 2026, after a short illness. Ralph was born on November 28, 1940, to Julia and Bernard Larsen in Milwaukee. His siblings, Bernard, Glenn, and Ingrid, preceded him in death.
Ralph lived in the Milwaukee area most of his life, attending UWM, where he majored in economics and minored in philosophy. He worked for many years as a social worker for Milwaukee County. He had many additional interests, including classical music (especially opera), writing, and repairing vintage radios.
He was involved in social justice activities beginning in college, and he was one of many who marched across the 16th Street Viaduct on August 28, 1967, the night that began 200 days of protest for fair housing in Milwaukee. He edited and wrote for the community newspaper Milwaukee Review in the early 1980s. Ralph maintained an active interest in local, national, and international affairs and politics throughout his life.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special people in his life were his wife, Tahirih Missaghi, and her children, Kimiya and Erfan, for whom he enjoyed his role as stepfather. In his last years, he appreciated the support of Paula Gelbke, Linda Menzel, and Dr. David Abelson and his wife, Sandra Holt. He is missed by all who knew him.
