Early Sunday morning, October 6, at the age of 91, Peter walked away from the dark night into the bright morning light and into the waiting arms of his daughter, Nancy Lee; siblings Ray, Irene, Florence, and Lucy; and parents Anna and Paul. Peter will live on in the hearts of his wife of 69 years, Joan; children Barbara (Eugene), Dan (Leslie), and Jeff (Sharon); sister Eleanor (Ken); grandchildren Heather (Howard), Patrick (Amanda), Lee (Jenny), Eugene, Brandon, Allissa (Garrett), and Liliana; great-granddaughters Annika and Vera; and many family relatives and friends.
Upon graduation from UW Stout in 1951, Peter taught Industrial Arts in Louisville KY only to be called to duty during the Korean War. Following his Army service, he worked 21 years in the Racine school district, starting as a teacher and then becoming an Athletic Director. After obtaining his Masters of Education from UW Milwaukee, Peter ultimately worked as an Assistant Principal. After many years in education, he and Joan followed their hearts to Clear Lake, WI to co-own Schellinger's Maple Valley, an independent maple syrup farm, making maple syrup for natural food co-ops and farmer's markets in the Twin Cities of MN.
Peter loved to travel with Joan and his children throughout North America. After retirement he and Joan traveled extensively, spending many winters in Las Cruces, NM and Sebring FL. As an avid craftsman and gardener, he passed those skills on to his children while also leaving his mark in many homes, gardens and backyard projects. His legacy will be carried in our hearts always.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 30th from 10:00 - 3:00 at Village Pointe Commons in Grafton, WI.
