Peter H. Coffin

January 8, 1968 — May 12, 2025

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Peter H. Coffin on May 12, 2025, due to sudden cardiac arrest at the age of 57. Peter was born on January 8, 1968, to Robert and Penelope Coffin in Appleton, Wisconsin. Peter is survived by Robert and Penelope Coffin; his brother, Nate Coffin; sister; Melanie La Barre; as well as Cynthia Dahlke, his aunt; and Ame’lie and Miette La Barre, his nieces. He leaves behind his cherished friend, companion and life partner, Teresa Dickert, a relationship that began with friendship, mutual interests and then living together with a special bond of appreciation and goals. They had been together for more than two and a half decades.

Peter’s interests showed anyone who knew him what a unique and far-reaching individual he was. Anime, Goth culture, opera and jazz, traveling, preparing meals and exotic cocktails. He had discovered the art of connecting with others who became life-long friends. And not least, Peter loved kitties and they loved him. He listened to them and acted accordingly, fed them, hung out with them and took care of them while enjoying their company. Another rendition of life-long friends.

Peter began his life-long interest in technology when his father brought home one of the earliest of the Apple computers. That beginning evolved into a successful career path in technology: software development, data management, (and his-far-better-than-average) tech consulting skills. Peter was employed by IBM and IBM/Manpower for many years, managing a wide range of assignments.

Peter had a generous spirit and didn’t court anger. He mentored many and had the patience of a sage. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Memorials for Peter will be held informally for family and friends.
