Patricia Ann Landa

October 30, 1945 — March 19, 2023

First and foremost, Patti Landa passed away on March 19, 2023. Second, we would be remiss if we didn’t note that she would have edited this draft to make it “just right” before publishing. She probably “hates that picture”, too. We’re sure she’ll tell us all about it when we see her again.

Patti was creative, fierce, and stubborn. In her prime, she was just the most fun person in the room. She made sure everyone had enough to eat and drink, that there were enough cards for Euchre, and that you felt like you had nowhere else in the world to be but right there laughing with her. She worked from the time she was fifteen, sometimes several jobs at once. Her favorites include hairdresser, prop mistress, and editor of all of her children’s papers. She was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2008 and fought every day with an enlarged heart. In true Patti fashion, she fought for her very last breath, too.

Patricia Ann Landa (née Plewa) was born October 30, 1945, in Seven Mile Creek, Wisconsin, near Lyndon Station. Patti is survived by her three children: Paul Landa, Katie (Brian) Cummings, and Tony (Jennifer) Landa; grandchildren: Ashleigh Ill, Holly Ill, Matthew Centeno, Samuel Centeno, John Joseph Landa, Thomas Landa, Drea McAlister, and Mr. Ruxpin; and her great-grandchild, Athena Rose Kling. She is also survived by siblings, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends, including co-workers from Dress Barn and Meadowbrook Resort.

Patti was preceded in death by both of her parents, Catherine (née Biesek) and Leo Plewa, as well as her sisters, Mary McGowan and Alice Corwith.

We probably forgot someone in the paragraphs above. Mom will let us know.

The celebration of Patti's life will start on the evening of Friday, March 31st at 6:30PM, with plenty to eat and drink at WINGATE BY WYNDHAM WISCONSIN DELLS WATERPARK, 1030 Wisconsin Dells Pkwy S, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965. Mention Patti, and she’ll get you a deal on the room. On Saturday, April 1st, we will gather to celebrate her life with stories and music from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at PICHA FUNERAL HOME, 321 Washington Ave, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965. As an avid storyteller herself, Patti invites you to bring your own stories to share during the celebration. Storytelling starts at 3:00PM. Embellishment is encouraged. We wouldn't bid her farewell without more of her favorite food and beverages, followed by a nightcap back at the hotel. More details on the time and location of the “after party” will be shared at a later date.

No matter when you join us, she will expect you to send her a text when you get home so she knows that you are safe and warm and dry.

Thank you to the Cremation Society of Milwaukee for making sure she didn’t stay in the “cold hard ground” for all eternity. Instead, her cremated remains will be with “The Three” for their eternity. Thanks to the Froedtert Heart Failure & EP Teams and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Leo and Vicki at the Beloit Memorial Hospital for the gift of so many extra heart beats.

In lieu of flowers, please send plants, seeds, and gift cards from Menards, Walmart, or Gloria’s Garden for a garden of creative chaos with wild flowers, food, and a wide variety of found objects in her honor.

Finally, since prose about Patti wouldn't be complete without a bad pun… She will “moose” you and we will “moose” her, too. Written with love (to the best of our ability without her) by “The Three.”
