Millicent A. Kunesh (née Faherty), age 77, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, in Greendale, Wisconsin. Milli was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. Born on July 4, 1947, in Wisconsin, Millicent—affectionately known as Milli by her friends and Nana by her family—lived a life marked by resilience, creativity, and deep devotion to her family.
Milli was the beloved wife of the late Gary Kunesh and a cherished mother, stepmother, and Nana. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Gary Kunesh and his wife, Melissa, Gregory Kunesh and his wife, Billie Jo, and Steve Kunesh and his wife, Aimi. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Alyssa Titus and her husband, Caurell, CherishAnn Pearson and her husband, Joseph, Nicholas, Regan, Reid, Gregory Grayson, and Shay. She was also blessed with a great-grandson, Jameson Pearson, and a great-granddaughter, Arielle Titus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Verena and John Faherty; her husband, Gary; and her brother, Timothy Faherty.
In December of 2012, Milli received a double lung transplant after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. This gift of life granted her family twelve more precious years filled with memories and love. Even as she faced the challenges of rapidly progressing dementia in recent months, she continued to find joy in simple pleasures—especially coloring in her adult coloring books during her final weeks.
A woman of many talents and passions, Milli found fulfillment in creative pursuits throughout her life. She was an avid quilter and seamstress who also enjoyed embroidery, painting, crochet work, and building intricate Lego sets. Her love for reading enriched her days and reflected a curious mind that never stopped exploring.
Milli lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, and service to others. Her early career began as a social worker in Milwaukee, where she dedicated herself to helping those in need. However, it was her deep Catholic faith that ultimately guided her toward her true calling—education. Answering this call with grace and purpose, Milli became a teacher within the Catholic Archdiocese, where she touched countless lives through her devotion to both learning and spiritual growth.
Milli’s commitment to education extended beyond the classroom. After retiring from teaching, she embraced a new role that brought her immense joy: caring for her beloved grandchildren: Regan, Reid, Grayson, and Shay. This chapter of her life was marked by warmth and love, reflecting the same nurturing spirit she shared with students throughout her career.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Milli’s life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Meyer’s Family Restaurant located at 4260 S 76th St Ste D in Greenfield, Wisconsin (53220). The entrance is located on the corner of Forest Home and Cold Spring. A faith-based memorial service will begin at 4:30 PM with dinner to follow.
Millicent A. Kunesh leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and enduring love. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
