Michaelaine "Mickie" Ann Stieber was a beloved mother and grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who epitomized kindness. Her generosity, support, and love was not left unnoticed by those who knew her. Mickie left an impression on everyone she met. The light she carried brightened the dark seas of life. Like a lighthouse safely guiding ships into harbor, she was always there to shine light on those who needed and asked her. A devotee to her family and friends, Mickie was a confidant during life's tough moments, a jokester who made everyone smile and laugh, and a caregiver to those struggling, even when she faced her own illnesses.
In life, Mickie had a great love and appreciation for history, largely her family history for which she frequently discussed culture, heritage, and traveling. She delved into the supernatural and paranormal for which she often mused about guidance from lost relatives and narrated stories about local hauntings. She was artistic, indulging regularly in coloring, spill canvas painting, tie dye designs, fleece blankets, puzzles, and photography; especially sunrises behind Rib Mountain and the cloud's cascading colors beset by the sun. Mickie loved her two beautiful cats, Bailey and Zozo, for whom she spent much time assisting with overcoming their anxieties to live a fulfilling life. Mickie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She often visited her sister's cabin to celebrate life, Independence Day, and various family achievements. She often spent time with her children watching movies and TV shows like Dune, Star Wars, Star Trek, and the cooking channel, engaging in art, chatting about the complexities of life, and enjoying home-cooked meals.
Mickie was a proud mother of her three children. Her eldest daughter earned two Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Biology, and now supervises a large team at a genetics company. Her eldest son, who overcame so much in his life, is an assistant store manager and raising an amazingly sweet boy with a heart of gold and much love to give the world. Her youngest son earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Master's degree in Educational Psychology, and is currently completing a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering and Educational Psychology with hopes of being an international scholar. All three children, no matter their education level, profession, or life choices, brought pride to the woman who brought them into this world and helped raise them with kindness, compassion, and love.
Mickie was a gentle spirit who will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will be kept alive by the stories shared and passing of her kindness, passion for life, and love to help others. She is survived by her children, Michelle (Gareth) Clark, Tristian (Bre) Cerny-Grondin, and Matthew Grondin; her grandson, Arlo Cerny-Grondin; her parents, Clarence and Constance Stieber; her siblings: Patrick, Dawn, Erick, Paul, Craig, and Timothy Stieber; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.
May her strength and love comfort us all as we remember and celebrate her life and all of the wonderful things she did.
Mickie's life story cannot be easily summarized in an obituary. She is all that is written here and much more.
A celebration of life event will be held in the coming months along with a blessing of remains at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marathon City, Wisconsin.
