Mary Ellen Gembolis

Mary Ellen Gembolis (nee Kaye) passed away on July 29, 2026 in Shorewood, Wisconsin.

Mary will be remembered for her laughter and generous spirit. As a teacher, Mary lived her life’s passion of helping others grow. Through music, humor, and kindness, she taught not only academic subjects but life lessons. She shared her warmth and curiosity with everyone she met, making friends wherever she went.

Beyond teaching, Mary loved reading, music, good food and good company. It was hard to name a book she hadn’t read or couldn’t discuss.

She is survived by her two daughters, Laura Gembolis and Monica Barnette. The family will host a celebration of life on October 8th at Shorewood Hubbard Lodge. Please contact Laura Gembolis for more information.
