Margie Florence Belle Fornecker Margie Florence Belle Fornecker, 92, formerly of Beloit, WI passed away at Capitol Lakes Health Center in Madison, WI on Friday, February 4, 2022 after a short illness. Margie was born March 19, 1929 in rural Durand, IL, the daughter of Louis and Lida (Wise) Haas. She married Charles Fornecker on November 22, 1958 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Beloit. He predeceased her on July 4, 2011. They made their home in Beloit for almost 60 years. Margie loved talking about her life growing up on the farm and helping her dad in the fields and considered herself a tom boy. She attended Durand Schools and then later took a job in a factory to earn money to buy a car. She was adamant about traveling to places she saw on television and proved that by planning a trip to western states when she was 21 to see for herself places like Mt Rushmore, the Badlands and the Rocky Mountains. Her parents strongly protested as this is not something that was done in 1950 by a 21 year old female but she was determined to go and was accompanied by her mother and aunt who had never traveled further than 60 miles from their birthplace. She traveled with her mother to other places in the future as well as with her family in the 1970s. Destinations included Florida, Colorado, New York, New Orleans, Nevada and California not to mention a trip abroad in 1986 to Germany, Switzerland, France and Rome Italy for a tour of the Vatican. Margie often spoke of the 1941 Buick which was her first car and was the first of many Buicks she owned. The automobile was a symbol of her independence and she was often found taking day trips to visit her sister Marilyn or Aunt Manila. Margie enjoyed taking care of a large vegetable garden and lawn which she mowed using her “tractor” and enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and being the life of the party. Margie was predeceased by her parents, husband Charles, sisters Mildred, Marilyn and Mary Jane and infant son Danny. Margie is survived by children: Charles (Los Angeles, CA), Eugene (Denver, CO), Donna Rittenhouse (Reno, NV) and Cathy Gaffield (San Jose, CA) and 3 grand daughters and 6 great grandchildren and special cousin Everett Fornecker. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Beloit, WI.
