It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kim Marie Pohl (nee Cecot), a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on October 28, 2025, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. Born on February 28, 1964, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kim brought joy and vibrancy into the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Kim will be remembered as a loving and energetic person, whose warmth and zest for life touched everyone around her. She had an especially soft spot for small children and embraced the joy of being surrounded by her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as they grew. Her favorite memories, cherished by her children and grandchildren, revolve around the laughter shared during board games, cozy movie nights, and the endless fostering of imagination and creativity that she instilled in them.
Her love extended beyond her immediate family. Kim remained very close with her ex-husband and partner of 35 years, Ronald Pohl, who was a constant source of support throughout her final journey. She was very close with and cared for her partner Leander Esser, and his extended family, many of whom Kim had known since childhood.
Kim’s passions were simple yet profound; she found joy in playing cards, indulging in books, enjoying bingo, and, above all, spending quality time with her family. These moments reflected her character as someone who was caring, nurturing, and energetic.
She is survived by her devoted children, daughter Tamara Morris and husband Melvin (AKA favorite son-in-law) and son Ryan Pohl, along with her treasured grandchildren, Dylan, Aedan, and Madison. Kim also leaves behind her father, Robert Cecot; her siblings, Brenda (Thomas) Boyd, David (Gail) Cecot, Lori Schaver, Johnny Cecot, Kenneth (Carmi) Cecot, Kelly Handeland, and Gloria (Ricardo) Roman; and her brother Joe Cecot. She was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Cecot and brother Robert Cecot, both of whom were loved by her.
Kim Marie Pohl will be greatly missed by all who had the fortune of knowing her. Her spirit will remain alive in the memories of laughter shared, the games played, and the unconditional love she poured into her family. Her legacy of creativity, kindness, and resilience will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
A private gathering will be held for close family in the coming weeks.
