Always one to make an entrance, Kathryn was born in Augusta, Georgia, while her father, Tom, was at PT and her mother, Siggi, was getting her two eldest ready for school. A beautiful soul, Kathryn traveled far and wide with her family, ultimately settling in Okinawa, Japan, where she spent much of her life.

After graduating from Kubasaki High School, Kathryn continued her scholarly endeavours by graduating with a Bachelor’s in psychology, a Bachelor’s in Human Resources, and a Masters in Business Administration from University of Maryland University College. Kathryn met her husband, Joshua, in Okinawa and married in front of the beautiful Glacier Mountains of Montana in August 2018. Together they traveled across Southeast Asia and the US. On March 30th 2021, they brought a beautiful baby girl in the world and named her, Olivia.

Kathryn was a beautiful soul who was known for the kindness she bestowed on all she encountered. A caring heart, quick wit, and selflessness are just a few of the qualities that made Kathryn a force greater than nature itself. She will be missed by those that knew her all over the globe, a star that shone on all our darkness.

She is preceded by her grandparents, Erika and Heinz on her mother’s side, and Thomas on her father’s. She is survived by her husband, Joshua Lopez, their daughter, Olivia Lopez, her parents, Thomas and Siggi Downey, her sister and her daughter, Lisa and Harper, her brother and his family, Chris, Aki, David, Sean, and Luke, her grandparent’s, Colleen and Dean, and her Godmother, Marlene.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you please donate to Kathryn's gofundme (https://gofund.me/b895b70eto settle costs and support her young daughter.
