Jonathan "Jon" Bret
Salzman
April 19, 1977 – April 16, 2026
Jonathon Bret Salzman, 48, died on April 16, 2026, after a long struggle. He loved reminiscing about travels, sporting events and life in general. He’d often tell stories twice, which is how he got the nickname “Jonny Two Times.” People laughing around Jon was a common occurrence. Anyone who knew him knew he was funny. But those lucky enough to be in the same room as Jon and his sister as they laughed over memories and stories of growing up knew what joy sounded like. Their laughter filled a room.
As a young man, Jon always aspired to marry and have a child when he grew up. Jon met the love of his life, Michele, in 1994. They dated briefly and as he’d go on to say, “She was the only person to ever break up with me.” They got back together in 1996 and were best friends ever since. The two would go on to marry in 2002 and welcome their son, David, in 2005. Jon stayed home with David –working part time so he could do so– and loved every minute. Once David was older, Jon went on to work full-time for the Elmbrook School district. He loved everyone at Dixon Elementary School, where he was Head Custodian.
Jon will be greatly missed by Michele Salzman (Stephany); son, David Salzman; mother, Colleen Halloran; sister, Jackie Salzman; niece, Lula Debuhr Halloran; grandmother, Catherine (Kit) Halloran O’Meara and her husband, Tom O’Meara; aunts and uncles: Margaret Halloran and Jack Anderson, Michael and Judy Halloran, and Mary Halloran and William Bement; and cousins: Matthew Halloran, Lauren Halloran, and Ethan Halloran.
Jon was preceded in death by his grandfather, J.David Halloran; father-in law, Doug Stephany; and father, Bret Salzman.
The family would like to give special thanks to the team at Rogers Behavioral Health for all they did for Jon over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NAMI or Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation.
