Obituary

Jennifer Louise Winter, 63, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on the beautiful sunny morning of March 12, 2026. Jennie was surrounded by her husband, Craig; her daughter, Frankie; and her "bestest" friend, Shelley, who stroked her head as she passed from this world.

Jennifer was born in West Allis, Wisconsin, on January 10, 1963, to Earl and Bette Winter. She was the youngest of four children. Jennie grew up in a loving home where she developed her love for music. Everyone quickly realized that Jennifer possessed remarkable musical talent.

Jennifer met her husband, Craig, at Metropolitan Music. There was instant chemistry as they bonded over music, their passion for jazz, and many other musical genres. Together, along with several dear friends, they formed the jazz-style group, Innuendo. Jennifer's sultry and soothing vocals made the group quite popular throughout the Milwaukee area, including performances at Summerfest for several years.

After receiving her degree in business from Breyer State University, she went on to receive additional post graduate certificates, as continuing education was a passion of hers. In addition to working full time and caring for her family, Jennifer devoted countless hours to volunteering for several nonprofit organizations. She served as Board Treasurer for the Hispanic Round Table from 2012 until the present and as Board Chair for Fight Asthma Milwaukee Allies, Inc. from January 2022 until the present. Jennie and Craig were also deeply involved with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and volunteered as peer support staff for Warmline for over a decade.

Jennie genuinely cared about people and took great pride in advocating not only for her clients, but also for her family and friends.

Craig and Jennie were married on July 31, 1994. Their daughter, Francesca, arrived the following January, making Jennie an extremely proud and devoted mother. Jennifer was Craig and Frankie's steady and constant support, as well as their biggest cheerleader.

Jennie leaves behind to grieve this tremendous loss: her husband, Craig; daughter, Francesca ("Frankie"); step-son, Roy (Caitlin); grandchildren, Henry and Teddy; brother, Michael (Lynn); sister, Jodi Deer; sister-in-law, Jill Storm (Jim); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless dear friends.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Bette (nee Gentz) Winter; Craig's parents, Lee and Elinor Steitz; her brother, Todd Winter, and his wife, Kelley; her brother-in-law, Terry Deer; and many beloved cousins, friends, and special pets - especially her dogs, Augie the Doggy and Niko.

A Celebration of Jennifer's Life will be held on Sunday, May 31, at the Elm Grove Woman's Club, 13885 Watertown Plank Road, Elm Grove, Wisconsin, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. There will not be a formal service, but rather a tribute to Jennifer shared throughout the afternoon. Please join us in celebrating a life well lived with music, refreshments, memories, and stories.

''The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience."

- Eleanor Roosevelt
