Jeanine Hanson Becker

April 7, 1957 — October 6, 2024

West Allis

Jeanine Becker, age 67, passed away peacefully on Oct 6, 2024. Jeanine was born in Hartland, WI, on April 7, 1957, to the late Mary Louise (nee Hanson) and Eugene Becker. Jeanine grew up in a big family with 1 brother and 7 sisters. She loved school, choir, tagging along to work with her father at his construction job, and canning/pickling vegetables from her father’s garden.

Jeanine attended Arrowhead High School and received a vocal scholarship to Carroll University. On the first day of college, she met her husband of 45 years, Douglas Pruitt. In 1983, they bought a home in West Allis near State Fair Park where they raised their 2 children Collin (Nora) Pruitt and Christine (Nick) Carini. Jeanine was a proud grandma of Danny, Maria, & Elliana.

Jeanine loved cooking and baking. She had a passion for canning and won many 1st place ribbons at the WI State Fair for her jams, jellies, baklava, & pickled asparagus. In 1998, Jeanine started her business, Madam J’s Sticky Fingers Jams and Jellies. She could be found at the South Shore Farmer’s Market in Bay View every Saturday. She later became a Master Food Preserver. Jeanine began to teach food preservation classes for the Greenfield & Greendale recreation departments, as well as Groundwork Milwaukee. Jeanine worked at ASQ for over 20 years and loved her job as a Segment Manager. Jeanine also enjoyed volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. Jeanine and her family had a love for animals and adopted several cats from the WI Humane Society over the years.

Jeanine was an amazing friend, daughter, aunt, wife, mother, & grandma. She loved hosting an annual brunch for her closest friends. She loved a cold Spotted Cow on tap. Her birthday parties always involved 3 things: bowling, deviled eggs, and Hawaiian shirts. We will think of you whenever we see a jar of jam, have a fire on the beach, hear a Prince song, or bake Christmas cookies.
