Janice I. Orcutt, age 99, of Greenfield, passed away on December 15, 2024. Janice was born in Sauk Prairie, WI, on July 15, 1925, to the late John O. and Pearl (Knight) Parman. She was the 3rd child of eleven.
Janice and her family moved to the former Parman family farm in Mazomanie while she was in high school. Janice married Chester L. Orcutt on August 19,1945.They lived in Mazomanie and raised 5 children there: Kitty L., Kent J., Karol D., Kristopher K., and Kayci L Orcutt.
Janice lived a very full, active life. When her mother became ill, she helped raise her siblings. While Chet served in the Air Force, she attended UW-Madison, but dropped out to help in the war effort. She took a job at the newly opened Badger Ammunition Plant in Baraboo and tested gun powder for the Armed Forces. (Rosie the Riveter with a bang). After raising her own family, she returned to complete her BS degree at UW-Whitewater and was a social worker at Willowbrook nursing home in Lake Mills. This past year, she again applied her degree and experience to offer polite opinions to some of the facilities that were caring for her this past year.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for the immediate family. She would like you to celebrate her life by spending a special moment with your own family and friends.
