Gregory "Greg" George
Wisniewski
March 24, 1942 – June 3, 2026
Gregory “Greg” Wisniewski of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026.
The oldest of two siblings, Greg grew up on the east side of Milwaukee. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Riverside High School. From 1960 to 1964, Greg proudly served as a medic in the United States Air Force. His service took him across the globe, with stations at Turner AFB in Albany, Georgia; Vimy Kaserne AFB in Freising, Germany; and Thule AFB (now Pituffik Space Base) in Greenland.
Upon returning from his military service, Greg pursued his education at Marquette University, graduating with a degree in accounting. He began his career in public accounting with Arthur Young before following his entrepreneurial spirit into small business ownership, leading Republic Building Products and later, Wismarq Light Company.
Greg loved boating and owned several boats throughout his lifetime—the Jenny Lynn (affectionately named after his daughter), Tranquility, and Reflections. He cherished traveling with his family during the summer, cruising to Door County, the Upper Peninsula, or across the lake to Michigan. Wednesday Regatta nights in the summertime were his absolute favorite, as he and his buddies would head to McKinley Marina for a boys’ night out. The self-proclaimed “River Rats” rarely actually left the boat slip for a race, but with cocktails in hand and plenty of stories to tell, they made a lifetime of unforgettable memories.
Greg was blessed with a genuinely charismatic personality and an infectious laugh. He was the quintessential life of the party, possessing the rare gift of being able to strike up a conversation with absolutely anyone. To Greg, there were no strangers—only friends he hadn't met yet. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lottie (Drobek), and his younger brother, Richard (Dick/Wisco), alongside many other cherished family members and lifelong friends.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Eileen (Scharnell); his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Tom Misiewicz; his nephew, Jacob Wisniewski; and his niece, Jacinda Konczal.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Greg's memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Greg’s memory to USO Wisconsin.
