Gloria M Nash

April 28, 1929 — March 6, 2025

Oconomowoc

Gloria Nash passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2025, due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Though dementia took her memory, it never dulled her sharp sense of humor or timeless southern charm. As she liked to joke, “If I’d known I was going to live this long, I’d have taken better care of myself.” The irony is that her long life—95 vibrant years—was a testament to her active lifestyle and being the only nonsmoker and nondrinker in the family

Born on April 28th, 1929, in Louisville, Kentucky, Gloria was the eldest of three children born to Theodore and Bernice Ising. She grew up alongside her brothers, James and Theodore, and graduated from Okolona High School. Her journey into the professional world began at the Louisville Courier Journal, where she met the love of her life, Wilbur “Junior” Nash Jr. Although she was a proud Louisvillian and self-proclaimed “homebody,” Gloria nonetheless embraced a life of adventure, moving across the United States—from Los Angeles, CA, to Denver, CO, to Wichita, KS, and finally back to Southern Indiana—in support of Junior’s career. Together, they explored the globe in retirement, visiting Russia, China, South America, and seemingly every castle in Europe.

While Gloria was devoted to creating a warm and welcoming home for her family, she also had a remarkable career. She worked in purchasing at the Courier Journal, on the clerical staff at Martin Marietta, served as a legal secretary at Lohmeyer, Janes and Schad, and later took on the role of paralegal at Southern Indiana Legal Services. Her dedication to her community extended into retirement, volunteering her time with organizations like St. Vincent de Paul and Blessings in a Backpack. She was also a cherished member of Park Christian Church.

Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Junior, and her dear daughter, Barbara Grauel. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in her two sons, Ron (Susie Marguet) and Tom, as well as her grandchildren, Ashley and Evan Young (Billie), and great-grandchildren, Skyler Young and Landon Krow. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her extended family, including numerous nieces and nephews.

Please join us in celebrating Gloria’s remarkable life at a gathering on Saturday, June 7th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Tavern in the Exchange, 118 W Main St, New Albany, IN 47150. Raise a glass as we honor her journey—a life well-lived and well-loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Gloria’s name to:

Elaine’s Hope/Lutheran Home Memory Care unit and the Alzheimer’s Association.
