Evelyn ‘Betty’ Socha

January 30, 1929 — September 20, 2020

Sunday, September 20, 2020 - Evelyn ‘Betty’ Socha peacefully joined her dearest Johnny in heaven. Just as she lived her life here on Earth, she moved onto her next life surrounded by family, continuing to spark joy, as they reminisced about the unique and magnificently thoughtful woman she was. To know Betty was to experience creativity in its purest, most natural form. Whether you were a beloved grandchild (fourteen of them!), another active parent volunteering at school or one of her seven children, you were witness to the magic of seeing her turn nothing into something. A sleepover became a treasure hunt, a secondhand shop became a stylish fashion boutique, a Christmas Eve gathering became a performance and a vacation rental became a cozy home if only for a week stay. Betty moved through life making things more interesting and more special for everyone. No one felt this more than her beloved daughter and forever baby girl, Katie. Their bond can only be described as a sacred, most unconditional love that shone so brightly it lit-up everyone around them. Wearing matching polka dots to a lunch date or sitting side by side enjoying their favorite programs or traveling through the alps in Europe… there was nothing they didn’t experience together over the past 50 years. Most importantly, there was no barrier Betty wouldn’t break for Katie. We invite you to donate in Betty’s name to the Special Olympics, an organization that believes in the same opportunity she adamantly sought for Katie throughout her life. Betty leaves behind an incredible influence that has shaped her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Inspiring each generation to see possibilities in everything, leave people feeling special and always keeping on hand a few sneaky gifts ready to give at a moment’s notice.
