Almond, 'Betty' (Elizabeth Louise)
Passed peacefully from this earthly world to join her beloved parents, Elsie and Erich Trappe, and many dear friends in heaven on October 30, 2014. Family was the center of her life. Dedicated to daughters, Joan Almond (Anderson CA) and Diane Almond (Doug Pippin, Asheville NC), she adored her grandchildren, Nadia Almond-Chaparas (Portland OR) and Eric Horbinski (Lauren, Las Vegas NV) whom she tended in their younger years. Betty studied to become a certified beautician, and later took classes in creative writing. She was a devout Christian, an active Republican, a good neighbor, excellent cook with an insatiable 'sweet tooth.' She marveled at the wonders of the natural world, especially its trees, clouds, flowers, birds and the honey bees. An avid walker she could out-pace people half her age. Betty is survived by her 'little' sister Phyllis Vansandt; cousins including Dick (and Gloria) Volland; niece, Laurie; nephews, James and Collin. Deepest appreciation to Wisconsin Lutheran Living Center and VITAS Hospice staff for their loving kindness and care, and special thanks to Betty's 'guardian angels' - you know who you are.
