Doris May Reisel

Doris May (Hanagan) Reisel of Milwaukee, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 1, 2024, just a few weeks shy of her 101st birthday.

Born in Kenosha, WI, on January 23, 1923, Doris was a lifelong Wisconsin resident. Always a “people person” Doris knew from a young age that she wanted to go into a field that included being with and helping others. After putting herself through St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Doris had a long career in nursing, which she loved, spent primarily at the student health center of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Other loves of Doris’s included sailing, ballroom dancing, traveling, and learning, which resulted in her taking trips to literally every corner of the world.

Doris’s greatest loves, however, were her family and friends which include her children: Ken (Dorothy) Reisel of Mobile, AL, Jim (Donna) Reisel of Huntsville, AL, Karl Reisel of Oconomowoc, WI, and Kathy (Leonard) Czajka of Seattle, WA; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren, plus countless extended family members and friends.

Doris felt she lived a truly full and amazing life, and indeed she did. She will be remembered and missed by anyone and everyone who was lucky enough to know her.

Since Doris did not like to draw attention to herself in large gatherings, as per her wishes, private services were held.
