In loving memory of Donald W. Brouwers (Don) of Sturtevant, WI, who passed away at the age of 76 on June 6th, 2023, at the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans' Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
One of the kindest souls, Don was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. He is now at peace but will live on forever in our hearts. Rest in peace.
Born October 15th, 1946, in South Milwaukee, WI, and in his youth relocated to Sturtevant, WI, with his family. He learned early in life the importance of hard work and service to his country and community.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and achieved the rank of Sergeant. During the Vietnam War he served his tour at Da Nang and Chu Lai air bases from February 1967 to February 1968.
Early in life he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. For a time after his military service, he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and numerous other local organizations. For his family, He was always there to protect, care, support, and love them. He taught his children the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right. Don was a true role model to be emulated.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Francis W. Brouwers and Frances E. Brouwers (Grimes); his wife, Margaret A. Brouwers (Oesau); and his sister, Wendy K. Brouwers.
He is survived by his siblings: Barbara (John) Anderson, Dennis (Nancy) Brouwers, and Joy (Wayne) Straub; his children - Teresa (Jerry) Potter and Michael (Patricia) Brouwers; his partner in life, Frances Bohmann; his extended family: Mike (Shari) McAuliffe, Robert (Kelly) Bohmann, Julie Bohmann, and Daniel Bohmann; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at the Union Grove Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring St, Union Grove, WI 53182, on September 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher House. They are a volunteer run non-profit organization that provides housing for families of veterans that are receiving care at the medical center. Without the Fisher House, Don’s family would have had difficulties trying to comfort him in his last moments. You can donate at the link provided under the tab “Make A Gift” and designate Donald W.
