God decided it was time to take Don home. Beloved husband of Linda (nee Dalton) of 52+ years. Loving father of Jason, and cherished and loving grandpa of Ryan, Ryan’s mom, Julie McDermott (Patrick), nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his little buddy, Dino.

He is preceded in death by his loving son, John; in-laws, Murell and Helen Dalton; brother-in-laws, Gene and Otis Dalton; and sister-in-law, Carol Olsen (Orran).

Don and Linda started dating as juniors while attending Pulaski High School. After they married, Don was very involved with the Wisconsin AAU Boys Basketball Program. He served as tournament director and coach. He also coached and served on the board for Wilson Park Baseball when John and Jason played there. He loved fishing, especially for muskies and the time up north with family. He especially enjoyed taking his grandson Ryan out on the lake and teaching him how to fish when he was little. He was an avid collector of antique fishing lures and was involved with the National Fishing Lure Collectors Club running swap meets for the region. Don also enjoyed watching the old-school pro wrestlers. Then there were all those Packer game parties with the house packed full of Packer fans. Known as “Don Vito” to his friends, he had so much fun playing fantasy football, too. His sense of humor and talent for talking will be dearly missed.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff at Clement Manor Health Care for their care and concern given to Don this past year. Thank you also to the staff from Allay Hospice for their care and kindness given to Don these past few weeks. A special thank you to his friend Barbara at Clement Manor for her kindness and concern.

A memorial visitation will be held at Clement Manor (Chapel) at 3939 S. 92nd Street on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 5:00pm to 6:15pm, with a brief memorial service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
