Donald Lyle Alfred Hodson, affectionately known as Don, passed away on April 6, 2026, at the age of 49. Born on October 22, 1976, in Chardon, Ohio, Don later made his home in Greenfield, Wisconsin.
Don was the beloved son of John and Ruth Hodson (née Evans). He was a devoted husband to his wife, Catherine Hodson (née Cantrall), and a loving brother to Dan Frank (Anita), Julie Ulrich (Joe), and Jennifer Hodson Zisk.
He was a kind stepfather to Jean Masterson (David) and Jeff Masterson, and a loving uncle to Andrew Ulrich, Nathan Ulrich, Kate Zisk, Alex Ulrich, and Ryan Zisk. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, wonderful friends, and caring neighbors who were an important part of his life.
Don shared a special bond with his beloved cat, Ruben, who brought him great companionship and joy.
He had a long career in tapered design specialty work and was known for his dedication and skill. Outside of work, Don had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar and accordion. He also found joy in geocaching, appreciating the adventure and discovery it brought, was an avid trivia player who loved testing his knowledge, and an enthusiastic jigsaw puzzle lover who found both challenge and relaxation in completing them. A loyal Cleveland sports fan, Don remained an avid Browns backer even while living in Wisconsin, cheering them on faithfully each season and proving that true fandom knows no distance (or record).
Don will be remembered for his kind heart, jovial spirit, sharp mind, and gentle nature, as well as the deep love he held for his family, friends, and all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday May 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McAuley Hall, located in the lower level of Church of the Gesu, 2470 Miramar Boulevard, University Heights, Ohio. The gathering will be open house style and light refreshments will be served.
