Darrell William Heideman

February 20, 1950 — November 20, 2024

Manitowoc

Darrell William Heideman, age 74, of Manitowoc, WI, passed away peacefully in the early hours of November 20th, 2024 after a long-fought battle with chronic illness. He was born February 20th, 1950, in Manitowoc, WI, to Kenneth and Shirley (Oestreich) Heideman. He was a proud father and grandfather often sharing his life lessons and strong desires to do good and live a healthy life. He was a proud member of the UAW local 833 union throughout his 28-year tenure at the Kohler Company where he worked in the cast iron division. He was honored to have served on union committees at Kohler and made many life-long friends. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1968. Darrell had a larger-than-life way about him and loved his Wisconsin sports teams, playing a round of golf, talking politics, reminiscing about the good ole days, and enjoying a cold beer and a scotch. Even in the depths of his declining health he remained steadfast and strong and was determined to live his life to the fullest with a positive attitude. Darrell had the ability to make anyone laugh with his wise-crack remarks and will be remembered for his bold spirit.

He is survived by his son, Troy Heideman (Amy Seehafer) and grandchildren: Brayden Heideman, Brielle Heideman, Evan Seehafer, and Mason Seehafer; his son, Todd Heideman; siblings: Leland (Rosie) Heideman, Karen Heideman McLean, and Barbara (Bruce) Wood; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Shirley Heideman.

Per Darrell’s wishes the family will host a private celebration of life in the coming weeks. Family and friends are encouraged to have a good laugh and beer in his name as Darrell’s wishes were for his survivors to not suffer in sadness, but to celebrate and live on in his name.

The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation for the staff of Holy Family Memorial Hospital in Manitowoc, WI, and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls, WI, for their diligent and loving care in his final days.
