Dale Alec Zastrow, aged 87, went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2024, in West Allis, Wisconsin. Born on August 16, 1937, in Merrill, Wisconsin, Dale led a fulfilling life marked by a distinguished career and a loving family. Dale graduated from Merrill High School and went on to establish a varied career. He worked as an electrician for Dandilion park and at Steele amusements (carnival) and a driver for several coach companies, including Milwaukee County Transit Systems. Later in his career, he took on the role of supervisor at the Milwaukee Convention Center, where his leadership was highly valued.
He was a beloved husband to Renee (née Rohde) and a devoted father to Dodd and Dustin (Carmen). Dale's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Josh (Alyssa), Jena (Mason), Rebecca, Justin (Cory), Isaiah, and Jeremiah (Emily), and his great-grandchildren, Adriana, Elijah, Elvis, Levi, Jeremiah Jr., and Jordan. Dale’s beloved in-laws are Gail and Gary, Jim and Brenda and mother in law Betty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ester, and his sibling, Marlys and son Donald.
Dale's life will be honored at a service held at on Friday, September 13th Elmbrook Church Chapel, located at 777 S Barker Rd., Brookfield, WI, 53005. Visitation begins at 1:00 pm, service at 2:00pm followed by a reception at 3:00 with food.
Dale found love and serenity in the Lord Jesus Christ. He enjoyed volunteering his time as a cameraman at church. He was a volunteer and a foreman for several departments and was the pacesetter for the Great Circus Parade in Milwaukee. Dale was a volunteer for the Midwest Horse Fair. Dale volunteered for several Drum and bugle corps as a driver (Madison Scouts, Southwind and Wausau Story) and as liaison for the drum corps at city of festivals parade and show. Favorite pastime was seeing drum corps shows with his beloved wife and parades across the country making lifelong friends along the way. Dale found delight in decorating his home as a winter wonderland for Christmas inside and out. His life was a testament to his love as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, remembered for his resilience and the profound impact he had on those around him.
