Dale P. Gerdes passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, surrounded by family after a sudden illness. He was born September 2, 1947, to Paul and Jane Gerdes of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. Preceded in death by his parents, Jane and Paul, and his sister, Gail Gerdes Hagen. Survived by his brothers, Gary and Brad (Cathy); his brother-in-law, Kim Hagen; nephews: Travis Gerdes, Scott (Christina) Hagen, and Trever Hagen; nieces, Caitlin and Kelsey Gerdes; great-nephews, Carson and Leo; and great-niece, Iris.
Dale was a graduate of Dominican High School (class of '65), University of Notre Dame (class of '69), and UW-Madison Law School (class of '72). He was in private law practice with his good friend, Jim Gutknecht, for many years in the Milwaukee area. Dale was a member of the St. Michael's Friars Club, as well as the Brown Deer Men's Golf Club, and an usher at St. Monica's in Whitefish Bay, his childhood parish. Dale was an avid golfer and was quite proud of his hole-in-one at BlackWolf Run-Meadow Valley Course (hole #15). He shared that special moment with dear friends Bob, Harry and Rich. He enjoyed watching his beloved Notre Dame teams, as well as the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. He enjoyed a good book, and loved living so close to Boswell Book's and the east-side library.
He will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, and his dry chuckle. The family would like to thank the staff at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital for their kind and compassionate care, especially the ER Team and ICU staff.
At Dale's request, no services will be held. A private internment will be held at a later date.
