Clyde Neal, Jr.

Clyde Neal, Jr., age 86, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully from this world on October 5, 2024. He was born on May 27, 1938, in Buena Vista, Arkansas, to the union of Clyde Neal, Sr. and Clemmie L. Smith Neal. He married Norma Jean Sellers in 1964.

Clyde attended Carver High School in Stephens, Arkansas, before first moving to Kansas City, Missouri, and then to Milwaukee. He worked for Miller Compressing Company for over 40 years. In 1975, Clyde became Miller’s first Black management employee with twenty-five employees reporting to him.

He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Good Hope Baptist Church in Buena Vista. Clyde later served as a Trustee at Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee. He enjoyed outdoor sports including hunting, fishing, and boating. He loved taking fishing trips to northern Wisconsin.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; wife and one son, Frederick D. Neal: four sisters: Mary L. Browning, Eddie Mae McDaniel, Laura L. Torrence, and Helen J. Torrence; and one brother, Junious Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memory: three sons, Tommy L. Brown, Anthony Whitney, and Lindsey D. Matthews; two brothers, Jim Neal, and Eddie Neal; one sister, Esther Haney; special nephew and niece, William B. Torrence and Denise Wright; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Clyde will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
