Cindy Lou Wirth (née Barnhardt), 63, of Milwaukee, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14th, 2025. A proud veteran of the Army National Guard, she also served the Milwaukee Police Department for 24 years as an emergency telecommunicator, retiring in April of 2024 after a full career. Cindy filled her life with family, friends and animals, all of which she loved fiercely and without fail.

Cindy is survived by her children, Katie (Adam) Plautz and Kevin (Deidre) Chapman; her grandchildren: Shianne Erdmann, Isaiah, Christian, Ahliyana, and Mayson Chapman, and Kaia and Cora Plautz; her mother, Barbara Shelley; her stepmother, Dana Barnhardt; her grandparents, Jerry (Julia) Stein; her siblings: Michael (Sue) Barnhardt, Kim Czerwinski, Jody (Gary) Stratton, Peggy (Chuck) Wenzel, Kelly Farrell, Robin (Brenda) Barnhardt, Mark Barnhardt, Nikki (Carl) Holmen, Tammy (Dave) Tracy, and Julie Howard; 18 nieces and nephews; and 33 great-nieces and nephews. Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Jack Barnhardt; her stepfather, Gerald Farrell; and her stepfather, Vernon Shelley.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and details will be shared as they become available.

Cindy continually supported the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). As a meaningful tribute, the family invites those who wish to express sympathy to donate to ASPCA in Cindy’s honor.
