Betty M. Loth

Loth, Betty M. November 5, 1925 - March 15, 2015. Passed peacefully after suffering the relentless cruelty of Alzheimer's. She leaves behind her children Jean Grant, Pammie Jane Stelzer, Herbert C. "Chuck" Loth, Debbie Ann Ratliff, Jodi Lynn Loth, her "adopted" kids Sharon and Marty Grunfelder, who were always there for her, Jon Breider, who was a son to her, other relatives and many, many friends. Always independent, Betty enjoyed the freedom that walking gave her. She walked everywhere. Evan after taking lessons she opted not to drive, a decision for which we are all grateful. She would turn down rides saying, "It'll only take me 20 seconds." Nothing Betty did ever took more than 20 seconds. Known for her generosity, lively spirit, and quick wit, she welcomed everyone into her home, offering "snicky snacks" and a Dixie cup of wine. Our thanks to Lori Nondahl for helping Betty stay in her beloved home a little longer. Betty spent the last 6 years of her life at Sylvan Crossings where she received the kind of care all of us want for our loved ones. There are not enough words to tell you how eternally grateful we are to Dir. Shelley Beckett and her wonderful, loving, humorous, compassionate staff. Thank you Amy Oldfield, Celeste Konieczny, Christine Burgos, gracious Grace Bierer, Johnnie Mae Simmons, Kathleen Leeder, Lesley Welch, Melissa Perdue, Michele Stampfer (the best hugger), Mimoza Lalaj, Nicole Alford, Nur Ali, Richa Kaurzy, Bob Potacki, Skyler Farmer, and sweet Stacy Clark. Busy is what Betty liked to be. She adored Activity Dir. Kim Lambert, whom she nicknamed "Tinkerbell." Kim did her best to keep her occupied. Betty was the first to arrive and last to leave every single activity offered. In lieu of flowers the family appreciates contributions to Betty's "Fun Fund" at Sylvan Crossings, 6180 Creekside Dr., Cudahy, WI 53110. Donations will help expand and enhance the Activity Dept., so that others will be able to stay busy and enjoy themselves as much as Betty did. Betty insisted that no one mourn her passing, because she'd be in heaven. She told her family she wanted an Irish funeral "because everybody's happy." She also said that we should all have a drink for her. And so to honor her wishes: put a smile on your face at her memory and have that drink. Just be sure to use a Dixie cup. Visitation 2 pm April 11th at St. Matthias, 111 E. Main St., Waukesha. You are invited to share memories of Betty. At her request, Fr. Doug Sparks will also speak. Service to follow.
