Adair, Arthur J. April 16th, 2025, Age 93. Beloved husband for 54 years of the late Gloria Adair (Turczyn). Dear father of Jeff (Kathy), Tyler (Caryn), Rob (Shelly), Gwen (Jim), and Jamie (Dale). Grandfather of 10 and Great grandfather of 15 and further survived by other relatives, close friends, and Diane Hundt.
Art had a larger-than-life presence. At 6’4 he was always noticed in a crowd. He was raised in Chicago by a single mother, Sophie Jerutis, and placed in foster care due to financial challenges. He had many stories to tell being raised by many different families but would tell us he learned a lot from each family. He entered the AirForce at age 17 and was a Communication Specialist. He was honorably discharged due to the Government stopping the family stipend which was helping his mother financially. He always told me he wanted to make a career of the Airforce but put his mother’s needs first. He met his wife, Gloria, and married on 2/23/1952. They had many adventures together, including building a home with 5 children and building a successful business together.
Shortly after getting married, Art developed Polio. He survived this, but its lingering effects was a contributing factor of him passing. He raised 5 children and was very proud of all their success and would often tell people “I raised 5 great kids”.
He was in the Milwaukee police force for a few years and due to his growing family and financial needs, quit the force and opened his own flooring company “Adair Floors N More”. The business flourished and all 3 sons worked with him over the years and expanded it to 3 stores. Upon retirement he passed it on to his son, Rob, and now his grandson, Austin, who will be taking over the family business.
Art loved to Golf, deer hunt, bowl, and go to the Casino to play cards, often participating in these sports with his family. His favorite thing was to sit in the woods with his gun and watch nature. Getting a big Buck was a BONUS!!
After his wife, Gloria, passed away in 2006, he started dating Diane. They have been together for the past 18 years (they had a special bond) and the past couple years Diane has made it possible for him to stay in her home. Our family would like to thank Diane for all the compassion and care she gave our father. She was truly an angel and selfless in our eyes!!
Art and his wife, Gloria’s ashes, will be placed in the woods up north on Rob’s land and a tree will be planted in their honor in a private family celebration. We want to thank everyone for there condolences.
