Amanda Anne Ames (November 9, 1946 - January 3, 2025) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and left this earth in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret and son-in-law, Ben; son, John and daughter-in-law, Christine; son, Peter and daughter-in-law, Kim; grandchildren: Jake, Lillie, Ian, and Chloe; brother, Patrick and sister-in-law, Robin; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles; mother, Kay; sister, Kathy; and brother, Jay.
Amanda was a lifelong learner who welcomed discovery, new experiences and new understandings of the world around her. Her love for discovery extended to language, traveling, knitting, reading, gardening, and baking, all of which she shared with her family. She was also deeply passionate about researching genealogy, delving into family history to uncover and preserve stories for future generations. Her spiritual journey invited many ways of being close to God, and she found great strength and fellowship at Church of the Gesu. It is impossible to sum up a life in a few words, but Amanda carried love and generosity with her for whoever she encountered. Her memory provides tremendous comfort to her family.
A memorial event will be announced at a future date.
