Obituary

Aaron “Ron” J. Sprecher, of Milwaukee, WI, passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 61 after his battle with lung cancer.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ron was the beloved son of Marilyn and John (Jack) Sprecher and a devoted brother to Diana, Amy, and Anne.

Ron grew up in Menomonee Falls, attended Menomonee Falls North High School, and later attended UW-Milwaukee. Throughout his life, he worked in several industries, including the Veterans Center at Union Grove, the Wisconsin Lottery, and as a school bus driver for the Greenfield School District.

While those jobs paid the bills, his deep passion was music and concerts, particularly ’80s, New Wave, and Alternative music. This passion led him to begin DJing under the name “DJ Alter MKE” for more than 20 years on Friday nights during Retro Night at The Mad Planet in Milwaukee, where he also earned several awards.

Outside of work, Ron had a passion for driving and watching NASCAR races. He traveled to different racetracks in Wisconsin and throughout the South. In the late ’80s, he raced his own car at Slinger Speedway. He also enjoyed word games and poker and attended many trivia night events in the Milwaukee area. Ron’s ironic wit brought joy, laughter, and fun to everyone around him. Whether he was a lifelong friend, a protector, a partner in crime, or a DJ, his presence made the lives of his family and friends much brighter.

He is survived by his siblings, Diana (Knight), Amy (Kelly), and Anne Sprecher; his nieces, Nicole and Amanda; his nephews, Mario and Noah; extended family members; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother Marilyn (Westcott) Sprecher and father John (Jack) W. Sprecher.

To his family, especially his nieces and nephews, he was known as—and will be lovingly remembered as—“Uncle Meanie,” always playfully teasing and taunting them. His presence will be truly missed.

Ron wasn’t big on formal ceremonies and didn’t want a funeral. In lieu of a traditional funeral, the celebration of Ron’s life will be spent participating in one of his favorite pastimes—a trivia night competition!

A gathering for friends and family members to honor Ron and share memories will be held on Saturday, October 24, at Erv’s Mug in Oak Creek from 6–10 p.m., with trivia starting at 8 p.m.
